I have 30+ years of experience in the residential and commercial construction industry. I built my first house, with the help of my father, when I was in my early teens. Since then, I have been building, remodeling, and designing homes. Throughout my career in the home industry, I have done everything from small remodel jobs to complete scrape and rebuilds.

  • NACHI I am a certified home inspector with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. NACHI requires all inspectors to pass a certification test and complete 24 hours of continuing education each year. In addition, you must pass all course exams and a mandatory certification test each year to remain an inspector in good standing.   • IAC2 I am also certified by the International Association of Certified Air Consultants. I am certified to perform Radon and Mold testing.

Other home inspection associations have no entrance requirements and worse, encourage their candidates to go out and perform actual inspections for poor, unsuspecting consumers as the only way to achieve full membership. NACHI finds this practice unconscionable. That is why NACHI front-ends its membership requirements. NACHI turns down more than 1/2 the inspectors who want to join because they can't pass the exam or fulfill the membership requirements.

NACHI inspectors are required to:

Pass NACHI's Online Inspector Examination every year with a score of 80 or better.

Complete NACHI's online Ethics Obstacle Course.

Take NACHI's online Standards of Practice Quiz.

Sign and submit an Affidavit.

Adhere to NACHI's Standards of Practice.

Abide by NACHI's Code of Ethics.

Continue learning (24 hours/year) as per NACHI's Continuing Education Policy.

Maintain a member Online Continuing Education Log as per NACHI's Continuing Education Policy.

Submit 4 mock inspections to NACHI's Report Review Committee within 30 days before performing their first home inspection for a client.

Login to NACHIs educational message board.

Complete NACHI's comprehensive online Standards of Practice course.

Complete NACHI's online Structural Course.

Complete NACHI's comprehensive online Electrical course (free) including all the quizzes within and pass its final exam.

Complete NACHI's comprehensive online Roofing course (free) including all the quizzes within and pass its final exam.

Apply for a membership photo I.D.

Re-take and pass NACHI's Online Inspector Examination again, every year (free).

Complete at least 8 hours of advanced or beyond Standard of Practice coursework (before or within 2 years after joining)(reasonable exceptions apply).

Attend at least one chapter meetings or educational seminars every two years (reasonable exceptions apply).

Submit passport photos for their membership I.D.

Mock inspections reviewed before performing their first fee paid inspection.

Carry E&O insurance (if their state requires it).
